10 Movies I’ll Watch in 2020

1. The Personal History of David Copperfield

Based on the novel by Charles Dickens and featuring an impressive cast, this quirky looking film should be a good start to the year. Dev Patel is an impressively versatile actor and I hope this throws him back into the public consciousness.

2. Sonic the Hedgehog

Already the most contraversial film of 2020, this children’s film finally brings a legend to the big screen. It also brings a 90s legend in the form of Jim Carrey. Regardless of how this film turns out, it should make for an entertaining watch.

3. Scoob!

Back in my day, we didn’t have a Marvel Cinematic Universe, we had the Hannah-Barbara TV Universe. Seeing that on the big screen with a big budget and adorable animation should be stunning.

4. Spongbob Squarepants: Sponge on the Run

This will be the third theatrical release for the belovéd sea sponge. The first is a classic and the second is criminally underrated. I’m excited to see what this one brings.

5- Ghostbusters: Afterlife

It’s a direct Ghostbusters 2 sequel with Paul Rudd written by Jason Riteman. Of course I’m excited.

6. Jungle Cruise

I can’t seem to get enough Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who continues to be a shining beacon of the best of humanity. Also, this will supposedly feature the first openly gay character in a Disney film. I can but dream.

7. Bill & Ted Face The Music

I’d like to have some kind of meaningful thought but I only have one single thought. YASS KWEEN!

8. The Witches

The 1990 version with Angelica Houston scared an entire generation of children. It’s about time this story was thrust back into the limelight. I can’t wait to see how this generation reacts.

9. Godzilla Vs Kong

Look at that title. Tell me you’re not smiling thinking about it. Should be quite the computer generated spectacle.

10. Kaya and The Last Dragon

The next outing from Disney Animation Studios looks to be the most unique thing the’ve done in a while. The concept art looks gorgeous and if Akwafina sings, that will be gorgeous too.

Honourable Mention. The New Mutants

I still don’t know if they will actually release it after 22 years. I don’t know if it will be the same movie it was back then. All I know is it will be interesting to see how it finally ends.
